Dr. Nicholas P. Miller

Dr. Nicholas P. Miller is Professor of Law and Religion at the Honors College of Washington Adventist University, in Takoma Park, Maryland, where he also directs the Center for Law and Public Policy.  With doctorates in law (Columbia University) and religious history (University of Notre Dame) he is also a practicing lawyer representing religious organizations and institutions in court.  He is the author of several books and scores of articles on the topic of church, state, and religious freedom, and has worked for several years with the IF20 network to create documents that speak to pressing issues of international religious freedom.  A few years ago, it was the principles to consider in balancing religious freedom and public health during the pandemic.  More recently, he has helped draft guidelines on the issue of indigenous peoples, groups rights, and religious freedom.
